Conflict in Africa - Sudan and the Lost Boys        

PURPOSE:  "Sudan and the Lost Boys" program is to make humanity more aware of the consequences of war and related effects on the victims and the country at large. The program specifically and exclusively focuses on the past and current issues in the largest and the most war affected country of Sudan. Thus, the program is to educate and give details to the public about the reality of war. From first hand experience, the keynote speaker of the program gives a moving testimony to the plight of war affected children.

VIDEOCONFERENCE AVAILABILITY:          Tuesdays 11AM - 2PM   
                                                             Thursdays 11AM - 2PM
                                                             Fridays 9AM - Noon

LENGTH OF THE PROGRAM: 45-60 Minutes

GRADE LEVEL: Grades 5-12; Universities; and General Public 

COST: $ 100

BACKGROUND RESOURCES Once the scheduled Institution is registered for the program, they will RECEIVE in advance resource materials that will give them more knowledge about the program.

BACKGROUND ON THE PRESENTER: Michael Majok Kuch is one of the so-called "Lost Boys of Sudan". He fled his home country of Sudan at the age five due to the civil war. He is a survivor of War horrors in Sudan. He has been to three different Refugee Camps in different countries in Africa. Through US/UN agency, Majok came to U.S in the year 2000. He currently resides in Philadelphia and attends Chestnut Hill College. Majok is a first hand war experience presenter and he created and directs "Sudan and Lost Boys Issues" program. He is featured in the film "The Survivors" as one of the three lost boys in the film for Public Television.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: The "Sudan and Lost Boys Issues" strives to make the public aware of Sudan's Civil War. It targets especially the concerned human rights audience and the United Nations to take action that will lead to peace and justice in Sudan. After all, Sudan’s situation has been ranked the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. This videoconference program also teaches young people what it means to be a child of war. It encourages them to always pressure their local leaders to stand up and make a voice against violence.
