The 11 th Annual United Nations Student Conference on Human Rights (UNSCHR) took place on 3-5 December 2008. Participants explored the timely issue of “Climate Change and Human Rights.” The year's UNSCHR marks two important events in the same month: the UN's 60th anniversary celebration of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights on 10 December and the UN Conference on Climate Change which took place in Poznan, Poland from 1-12 December.

This conference supports the goals of the Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People, which aims to strengthen cooperation for finding solutions to problems faced by indigenous peoples

Participants explored the timely issue of “Migration and Development: Challenges for Human Rights,” as this year’s UNSCHR will followed the High Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development September 14-15, 2006, at the beginning of the 61st General Assembly session of the United Nations. The 7th Annual Student Conference on Human Rights was held on December 2-3, 2004. The theme was “HIV/AIDS: From Awareness to Action”. Students at the United Nations worked with their peers around the world to draft a Plan of Action that they presented to the Vice-President of the 59th General Assembly Session, Ambassador Iftekar Ahmed Chowdry of Bangladesh. |
