UN Student Conference on Human Rights 2003

The 6th Annual Student Conference on Human Rights, held on Friday, December 5th, 2003, explored the theme of Education For All.

An international, all day videoconference linking young people to each other and the United Nations to become involved in helping to achieve the goal of:

Education for All

The United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) will hosted the 6th annual Student Conference on Human Rights from the United Nations on Friday, December 5th. Co-sponsors of the conference included the Carol Baur Foundation (MX), the Foundation for Democracy and Development (DR), Global Education Motivators (USA) Interconnections 21 (USA), LePage Educational Consultants (CA), and the United Nations Association (USA).

Education is a basic human right. Promoting an understanding of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a central focus of this videoconference that will provide an opportunity for young people from Grades 5 -12 to meet together and discuss their work, and the work of others, to reach the goal of Education for All by 2015. They will develop a Youth Plan of Action and will present it to the United Nations at the close of the videoconference. Student leaders will be trained to run the videoconference from NY with most students participating via selected videoconferencing sites around the world. The videoconference will also be a live webcast.
