Conference Description: Adelphi University and the United Nations will host the Fourth Annual Conference on “Teaching for Peace and Human Rights” on May 28, 2009 at Adelphi University, Garden City NY and May 29, 2009 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, NY. The conference will bring together teachers, public education administrators, U.N. staff, and the non-governmental organization (NGO) community for a global dialogue about integrating peace and human rights education into the classroom. Teachers will write a Teacher Declaration to support UNESCO’s International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World campaign (2001–2010).
The purpose of the event is to provide a forum for teachers from around the world to collaborate on and bring international education issues to the forefront.
