GEM Day 2004

GEM Day at the United Nations 2004

On Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 GEM co-sponsored a one day conference on Issues of Human Security with LePage Educational Consultants of Barrie, Ontario. Approximately 250 students from Ontario, Canada, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania spent the day in Conference Room One at the United Nations to become more familiar with issues of human security. Students from the Barrie Learning Center in Canada and South Seneca Middle School in Ovid, NY facilitated the event.       Speakers included Eva Olsson, a celebrated author and Holocaust survivor, and GEM’s own Michael Kuch from Bor, Sudan.  Participants drafted a Student Declaration on Human Security and presented it to Ambassador Allan Rock of Canada. At the end of the day a power point presentation was shown on the big screen with pictures of their activities during the day.
