Social Responsibility in Business
Dr. Schwerin is the author of Conscious Capitalism: Principles for Prosperity. Working in concert with Zhihe Wang, a Chinese Scholar, Dr. Schwerin has been particularly active in advocating for SRB in China. As a result of their joint effort, over two-dozen SRB related articles, book reviews and interviews have been published in China creating a great deal of interest and enthusiasm in the movement.

MYX: Multicultural Youth eXchange is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization. Our mission is to facilitate cross-cultural communication among youth within our community and around the world, through technology and the arts. MYX was formed in direct response to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. These events and the aftermath had roots in cultural bias.

Fundacion Cultural Baur
Fundacion Cultural Baur, AC., is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI). The goal of Fundacion Cultural Baur is to offer an education aimed at heightening the awareness of young people on Human Rights and responsible participation in our global society. They are widely known internationally for supporting hands-on, innovative education through a curriculum originally developed by Carol Baur.

Students Take Action on HIV/AIDS

 

Where: Chestnut Hill College
          Philadelphia, PA

When: Thursday, October 21, 2004

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 a.m.

Focus Groups: Grades 8-12
 
Background: Secondary school students from the Greater Philadelphia area this year will meet at Chestnut Hill College to learn and discuss how students can Take Action on HIV/AIDS. They will be encouraged to join with their peers from around the world to help each other develop a student declaration on the topic of HIV/AIDS. Moving from "words to deeds", students will work from pre-selected focus areas prior to and during the program to develop action plans with a local, state, national, or global perspective.
 

Topic: Student will work from the topics below during the breakout sessions:

1. AIDS Discrimination
2. Educational Impact of HIV/AIDS
3. Women and AIDS
4. Orphans and AIDS
5. Socio-Economic Impact of AIDS
6. AIDS and the Media
7. Civil Society and HIV/AIDS
8. Treatment and Patient Rights
9. Globalization and AIDS
10. Democracy and AIDS

Also: Included for selected students from each school, at no additional cost, is participation in the United Nations Student Conference on Human Rights. This conference will take place on Friday, December 3, 2003 via an all day, live, interactive, international videoconference linked with students around the world involved in similar pursuits. Students will present their work to the UN and each other and will also develop their own Youth Plan of Action for a Better World that will be presented officially to the United Nations at the end of the day.
