United Nations in Your World

A structured, resource supported, four part series done from the UN.  This is for multiple schools via bridging.

From Words to Deeds

To help prepare classes for action projects related to human rights issues.  Involvement by November 16th will include an invitation for a no-cost visit the United Nations on December 7th for a Human Rights Day celebration and interaction with young people from various countries, all involved in similar projects.

UN/Global Issues

Four separate in-depth classroom oriented looks at important global issues confrontling young people.  Each one includes resource materials and is hosted at the United Nations with UN experts teaching the class.

  1. Causes and Solutions to Environmental Problems (UNEP)
  2. Peace & Security Through Disarmament (UN/DDA)
  3. Human Rights and You (UN/HCHR)

Cost: $125 for each series

African Perspective Programs

Classroom programs with African nationals on various African issues.  Offerings include structured programs from topics listed below as well as customized ones.

  4. Refugees

From Independence to Interdependence

This 45 minute interactive power point program uses our Founding Fathers as the basis for teaching about interdependence.  It helps students understand the concept of interdependence through their own history.

Landmines

An awareness program on landmines.  Background information is provided before the program to help stimulate discussion.

Cost: $40 per class

  2. Teaching selected global issues to support curriculum planning for the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the World's Children.
