Association to Unite the Democracies

GEM is working in close collaboration with the Association to Unite the Democracies (AUD) and its educational outreach arm to Euro-Atlantic Institute (EAI). In a videoconference format, GEM moderated a two day videoconference from Moscow, Russia on "Euro-Atlantic Integration and Russia after September 11", May 30-31, 2002. Participants included university students in Russia, Italy and the US as well as high level officials such as Strobe Talbot, Director of the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC and Robert Hunter, former US Ambassador to NATO. In 2003 a conference on European Union Expansion will be held in Prague, Czech Republic. It will include the involvement of young people from different countries giving them the opportunity to communicate directly with world leaders through videoconferencing and on-site interactions.

GEM anticipates offering distance learning undergraduate classes on related topics under Chestnut Hill College's new Global Studies Institute.
