Global Education Motivators (GEM) was founded in 1981 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to help schools and the community meet the complex challenges of  living in a global society.

Emphasizing human rights and human responsibility, GEM is now educating a second generation to global awareness and responsibility in an interdependent world.

GEM is a non-governmental-organization (NGO) in association with the United Nations Department of Public Information and is headquartered at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA (USA).

Meri Dimas is GEM's Global Educator Award recipient 2017-2018. Ms. Dimas is a teacher at Gateway to the Sciences High School in Jamaica Queens, New York. Youth Voices on Substance Abuse: A Guide to Action and Empowerment

On April 20, 2017, GEM and Words into Deeds, in cooperation with the United Nations NGO Relations, Advocacy, and Special Events Section Outreach Division, of the Department of Public Information held a dynamic briefing in which students and community members shared their experiences and research on substance abuse, treatment, and reduction efforts.

GEM has a New Videoconference Program on Syria:
A Human Without Country, The Story of One Syrian Refugee

The program is a first-person account of one Syrian refugee. Youssef Abbara will speak about life before the war, fleeing Syria, living under wartime, and the challenges of building a new life in different countries as a displaced person.
